Enlarging Blogger Profile Image

By default, Blogger displays your profile image at 80x80 pixels. That's small, and some users want their profile images to be larger than this. In this tutorial, I will show you how you can quickly make your profile image bigger.

Step 1:

Make sure you have a profile image in the first place. Go to Dashboard (old interface)- Edit Profile - Scroll down to Photograph and upload your profile image there. Make sure your profile image is large enough. If the dimensions of your profile image is small, enlarging it will make your image pixelated - not cool.

Step 2:

Assuming you have your 'Profile' gadget added to your blog, you can easily change its size by going to Template Designer - Advanced - Add CSS - paste the following code - Press enter after the last character of the last line } - Apply to Blog::
.profile-img{
height: auto;
width: 200px;
}
Adjust the value 200 accordingly.

That will be all. Have fun.

  2. It does work. Probably your Template Designer is not responsive. Try pressing 'Enter' after the last character of the last line } in step 2.

    Cheers.

    1. There are stray codes in your template that you should remove. These code are blocking the changes you make to your template. Go to Dashboard - Template - Edit HTML - Proceed - Find and delete these lines:

      ‎‎.profile-img{‎height: auto; width: 260px;‎}‎
      .profile-img{‎float: none;‎ display: block;‎ margin-left: auto;‎ margin-right: auto;‎}‎

      Click on Save template then. Once you've removed these lines, attempt the tutorial above again, it will work :)

    1. Hi April,

      I do, actually. Go to Template Designer - Advanced - Add CSS - paste the following code - Press enter after the last character of the last line } - Apply to Blog.

      .Image img{
      height: auto !important;
      width: 300px !important;
      }

      Use it wisely, as the images will go blurry if you over-do it. 300px is fine for your blog I guess.

      Cheers :)

  24. I tried what you suggested, but all it did was make the gadget tools icon larger. It had no affect on the size of my pictures. I even tried decreasing the number and it still happened. Any suggestions? Your site is great!

    1. Hi April,

      It should have worked, and yeah the quickedit icon would have gotten big as well. Try this instead:

      .Image .widget-content img{
      width: 280px !important;
      height: auto !important;
      }

      Here's some screenshots of what you should be expecting to see:

    1. Looks like you've pasted way more things than you needed to. Go to your CSS and get these code removed (HTML in CSS is a very bad idea):

      <style>#profile-container h2.sidebar-title {display:none;}</style>.profile-img{
      height: auto;
      width: 275px;
      }
      <style>#profile-container h2.sidebar-title {display:none;}</style>.profile-img{
      height: auto;
      width: 275px;
      }
      <style>#profile-container h2.sidebar-title {display:none;}</style>.profile-img{
      height: auto;
      width: 275px;
      }
      <style>#profile-container h2.sidebar-title {display:none;}</style>.profile-img{
      height: auto;
      width: 275px;
      }
      <style>#profile-container h2.sidebar-title {display:none;}</style>.profile-img{
      height: auto;
      width: 275px;
      }
      <style>#profile-container h2.sidebar-title {display:none;}</style>

    1. Hi Star,

      You should not post the code in your HTML. As stated in Step 2, the code needs to be in your Template Designer, particularly under the 'Add CSS' box. To access your Template Designer, go to Dashboard - Template - Customize. Once in, look for the 'Add CSS' box under the 'Advanced' tab.

    1. Sorry for the late reply. That makes sense actually. You are actually stretching the picture - at first it might not be noticeable but as you stretch it further you'll start seeing the image being pixalated. Consider using a custom profile gadget.

    1. Hi there..

      That's the downside. You can only stretch it so much before it starts to get blurry. An alternative is to use a customer profile widget (which actually uses the HTML/Javascript widget). Here, you get to use a high resolution picture so it doesn't get blurry. Here's a walkthrough:

  42. I just tried it and it worked on my blog, however it looks like the image has been stretched , and is pixelized, when really its actually much bigger it is 468x750 so why is it blurry?

    1. The image that is be pointed to by the link profile gadget is not as big as the original one. You may want to look into custom profile gadget if you'd like to use the original image in reference:
